The workflow nobody measured

With Priya N.. Hosted by Sam Pitkeathly and Raphael Joseph.

What came up

  • The team had three tools and no baseline, so every success story was anecdotal.
  • One named owner per workflow mattered more than which model they picked.
  • They stopped the rollout until the weekly number was something a manager already looked at.

Sam: Most of the training we see starts with the tool. The teams that keep using it start with one workflow and a number they already trust.

Edward: We ran a programme for about four hundred people. The ones who were still using it in week six were the ones whose manager had changed what they asked for in the weekly review. Everyone else had a certificate and the old process.

Sam: So the failure was not the curriculum.

Edward: The failure was week three. That is when the interesting part is over and the work goes back to looking like it did before. If nobody is asking for the new way, people stop.
